I am looking for cadastral maps and related documents from Bosnia and Herzegovina

The Kriegsarchiv has a collection of approximately 13,000 cadastral maps covering parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina and dating from the 1880s.

However, similar cadastral maps for Bosnia and Herzegovina are also to be found at the Arhiv Bosne i Hercegovine (Sarajevo).

To access the Kriegsarchiv’s cadastral maps a special five-figure reference code is indispensable (zone – column – section – quarter – sixteenth).

In the absence of any finding aid the Kriegsarchiv is unable to determine this code. To obtain it please contact the Arhiv Bosne i Hercegovine or procure the reference code by any other suitable means.

We hold the cadastral maps for zones 24 to 36 and the following districts:

Banja Luka, Bihać, Bilec, Bjelina Zvornik, Bjelina, Bosanski Grad, Bravsko, Brčka, Bugojno, Cajnica, Cazin, Dervent, Grač anica, Gradačac, Foča, Fojnica, Gačko, Glamoč, Jajce, Kladanj, Ključ, Konjica, Kostajinica, Krupa, Livno, Ljubuški, Maglaj, Mostar, Nevesinje, Petrovac, Prjedor, Prnjador, Prozor, Prozor Bugojni, Rogatica, Sanskimost, Sarajevo, Srebrenica, Stolac, Tešanj, Tessani, Travnik, Trebinje, Tuzla, Tuzla Dolnja, Ulok, Vakuf dolnji, Višegrad, Visoka, Vlasenica, Zenica, Žepče, Zupanjac, Zvornik

The Arhiv Bosne i Hercegovine preserve cadastral maps of zones 25 to 33 and the following districts:

Banja Luka, Bijeljina, Bosanska Gradiška, Bosanski Novi-Kostajnica, Brčko, Derventa, Donja Tuzla, Duvno-Ljubuški, Fojnica, Glamoč, Gradačac, Jajce, Kladanj, Kreševo, Livno, Maglaj, Prijedor, Prnjavor, Prozor, Sarajevo, Tešanj, Visoko, Vlasenica, Zenica, Žepče, Zvornik

Related to the cadastral maps and also part of the Kriegsarchiv holdings are the „Parzellenprotokolle“, lists of plots of land and their owners.

In addition there are “Wohnungsverzeichnisse” also from the 1880s and grouped by locality (K VII m 46-4-510), but only for certain parts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These registers record the house number as well as the surname and first name of the owner.

Please note: The records of the Bosnisch-Herzegowinische Landesverwaltung and of the Bosnisch-Herzegowinische Abteilung des k.u.k. Finanzministeriums are not in the Austrian State Archives, but in the Arhiv Bosne i Hercegovine.
