I wish to publish reproductions of archival material in print, display them in an exhibition or publish them online

Prior permission must be obtained for the publication of any archival material from our holdings irrespective of the form of publication (print, online etc.).

However, a distinction is made between a publication in print or online (Section 2 ‘Publikationen’ of our regulations) and a display in an exhibition (Section 3 ‘Ausstellungen’ of our regulations).

For publications in print or online a fee of € 30 per reproduction/archival unit is charged, while for exhibitions a fee of € 50 per reproduction/archival unit is payable. In addition, we ask for a complimentary copy of your publication or exhibition catalogue.

Permission for publication may be obtained by e-mail to ka@oesta.gv.at. Please provide the exact reference number (“Archivsignatur”) of the archival item as well as a full billing address (name of the organisation or individual, postal address, e-mail address, telephone number).

You will then be sent an advance invoice with our bank details. Upon receipt of your payment publication license is automatically granted and no further confirmation is needed.
