I am looking for the war grave of an Austro-Hungarian soldier (1914-1918)

There is no comprehensive list or register of all the Austro-Hungarian soldiers who died during the war nor of their burial places.

There is however a Totenkartei des Ersten Weltkriegs which was compiled during the War. It is far from including all Austro-Hungarian war dead.

These index cards provide the following data: surname, first name, rank, military branch, year of birth, “Heimatzuständigkeit”, place and date of death and burial place.

The “Totenkartei” is available online.

We also hold records concerning military cemeteries which during the War were established along the various front lines (Kriegsgräber Erster Weltkrieg). These records are grouped by theatre of war and cemetery. You need to identify the original burial place in order to make use of these files.

Subsequent resting places (as a result e.g. of a reburial and/or of the amalgamation of different cemeteries) are not documented. In such cases you may contact the Österreichisches Schwarzes Kreuz.
